![]() This wouldn't be the first time someone claimed to have received a missing or replaced item. Additionally, the Newegg Shuffle, which bundled hard-to-find graphics cards with other components in a raffle system during the peak of the mining boom and COVID-19 pandemic, was criticized for making desperate people buy extra items they didn't want. There has been some anger towards Newegg recently, especially after the PC parts vendor had to make changes to its open-box return policy back in February after Burke posted a scathing video about his experiences attempting to return a motherboard. We have been unable to verify much about this story, and details of the weights that rocked the PC gaming community have been shrouded in mystery. A number of Redditors suggested pushing for a chargeback from the customer's bank, while Gamers Nexus' Steve Burke offered to pay full price for the box and weights. The initial post of the RTX 4090 box was met with a mix of displeasure from the PC building community, including some users who expressed issues with Newegg's customer service, and surprise, as some onlookers thought the whole thing might be a gag for upvotes on Reddit. We'll update this story if we get any new details. It slowly builds up heat in this case.Īnyway, I did reseat the heatsink (twice) very very confident it is on correct and followed the AS5 instructions for Quads.Tom's Hardware reached out over Reddit to ask u/NuclearInnardsBeep about the refund, but didn't hear back before publication. :-/ Temps were dropped a full 10c idle and 15c load with the side panels off. The case runs far better with the side panels off than on. So if I buy a new product, and it sucks ass, can I return for refund -15%? Seems like I should be able too, but then again, I have never returned anything there.Įven so, I am probably going to end up keeping it, I just have had a really bad building experience with this rig.Įveryone raves about this Antec P180B case, but so far the airflow completely sucks in this thing. I bought everything brand new, opened it all (obviously) and THAT is what I am wondering about. That isn't what I am referring too (it is confusing, sometimes). Thanks for the feedback - but one of you mentioned the return for refund is just as the website states, but many in here assumed I actually bought 'open box' items. With socket 775, the push pins can be weakened if they have been reused many times, thus resulting in not enough pressure or even one corner popping off. Also, the retaining mechanism on older sockets (older than AM2) can keep the heatsink from seating properly on the CPU if it isn't centered. ![]() What socket and CPU are you using? What fan/heatsink? With AMD heatsinks, the retail box ones with a plastic cam through the middle can be tough to clip on properly. Double and triple check the CPU heatsink. Sounds like just a case of an overheating CPU to me. ![]() The RMA number is good for 14 days, and you have to ship to them using a "trackable" shipper, meaning no USPS. You have to request your RMA online within 15 days from date of ordering. I know because I've been buying refurbs for many years.Ĭurrent Newegg policy is "open box" can only be returned for a refund minus 15% restocking fee. Additionally, there are few deals to be had these days so you probably didn't save as much as you think you did except for motherboard, but those are also more likely to be missing items and be of "iffy" quality. That's the bane of buying Open Box stuff. ![]()
